1st place in the architectural competition
Nomination for PIRANESI Award 2022

The Belveder Forest Park is green wedge of wild nature embedded in a small residential district on the outskirts of Prague. Its character balances on the border between authentic nature and urban greenery. Here you can run in to a cyclist, a gentleman with a dog, a pair of  lovers, but also a roe deer or a wild boar. It's dramatic morphology makes it a natural barrier, that divides the residential district in two separate parts. The main aim of the revitalization of forest park was therefore to improve it's accessability and to expand the range of leisure outdoor activities. The residential area itself is seamingly surrounded by nature, but it is unfortunately difficult to access due to the massive traffic infrastructure.

The principal intention was to make the dramatically shaped landscape of the forest park better connected to the surrounding streets and enriched with places where people would like to spend their leisure time. The proposal is a attempt to answers the question: "What to do with a long-neglected park that nobody needs and nobody goes to?" The design of the planting and maintenance plan for the greenery was the integral part of the proposal. Given the size of the area, its current "wild" state and limited investment funds, the maintanance plan was divided into phases that could be implemented gradually according to the financial framework. Furthermore, the decision to concentrate on transformation of the nodal points and to leave most of the area in a natural "wilderness" with low maintenance was essential for keeping park's athmosfere naturally authentic.
